Associate/Senior Associate

We are looking for an Associate or Senior Associate to join the investment team to help build the firm from the ground up and play an integral role in contributing to MPC’s long-term success.  This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing, start-up investment firm as an early team member with significant upside potential.  The individual will work directly with senior leadership and play an integral in sourcing, underwriting, executing, and monitoring investments.  The individual will also work closely with in-house and third-party functional resources (e.g., operations, sales and marketing, digital, etc.) on a day-to-day basis.  The individual will work in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment, so candidates should be naturally proactive with strong capabilities to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sourcing — support deal flow generation by screening investment opportunities based on the firm’s established criteria and developing and validating investment theses
  • Due Diligence — work internally and manage third parties to lead the due diligence of potential investment opportunities by (i) analyzing and assessing key business functions (technology, sales, marketing, operations, etc.), (ii) assessing the market and competition (e.g., market sizing and mapping and competitive analysis), (iii) building detailed financial and operating models and related analyses, and (iv) drafting investment memos for presentation to MPC’s investment committee
  • Transaction Execution — assist with drafting term sheets and supporting the negotiation and documentation process from term sheet through closing
  • Portfolio Management — actively engaging portfolio companies and being a trusted partner and resource to our management teams is core to MPC’s investment philosophy.  Successful Senior Associates will develop relationships with management teams and board directors, continue to better understand the key micro and macro business drivers as companies and industries evolve, track performance through monthly financials and KPIs, assess the portfolio companies’ ability to meet investment objectives on an on-going basis and proactively engage in course correction as needed.
  • Capital Raising/Investor Relations — participate in MPC’s capital raising and investor relations meetings and related activities by preparing presentations that describe MPC’s unique model, investment thesis, and philosophy
  • Firm Operations — help develop internal operations and procedures to ensure the long-term scalability and efficiency of MPC and its investment process

  • 2-5 years of experience across VC/growth capital/PE and management consulting/investment banking

  • High-integrity with a superior work-ethic
  • Proactive, self-starter
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, fluid, and collaborative environment
  • Strong desire to work on a small team and participate in the business building activities of a new firm; entrepreneurial spirit
  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to evaluate and develop investment themes and identify and articulate key investment risks and opportunities
